LEGAL SERVICES

Legal Advocates provide support and education to victims of domestic violence who are seeking legal services at Laura's House. Legal services are limited to Domestic Violence Restraining Orders and are available at both the Counseling and Resource Center and the Emergency Shelter. Services are available in English and Spanish.

Legal Advocacy services include:

• Preparation and Filing of Restraining Order Paperwork
• Court Accompaniment
• Shelter Client Transportation to Court
• Client Referrals to Pro Bono Attorneys

• Education on Victim Rights
• Referrals to Legal Resources
• Preparing Clients for Court
• Monthly Legal Clinics
• Translation
• Community Outreach
• Safety Planning

Legal Clinic: The Legal Department, in collaboration with the Orange County Bar Association, hosts a monthly legal clinic on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Clients have an opportunity to speak to an attorney for 30 minutes; free of charge. A prior appointment is required.
