GET HELP MALE VICTIMS

ABOUT MALE VICTIMS

A girl can physically hurt a boy and break down the boy using words, threats and guilt-tripping. A girl can use the same tactics that male perpetrators use. In Orange County 95% of all reported cases of abuse the male is the perpetrator. This is not to say that females don't abuse, this only means that boys most likely do not report the abuse. Boys have been taught to "toughen up," and "take it like a man" - this is one reason that most boys will never report the abuse. Why should they, who will believe them? If an adolescent boy reports to his friends that he is being victimized he is going to be made fun of and called degrading names. Helping a boy who is your friend is the same as helping a female victim.

Changing social beliefs, attitudes and the behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse.
