Backpacks, school supplies and gift cards can be dropped off at locations in Ladera Ranch, Lake Forest and Mission Viejo

LADERA RANCH, Calif., July 22, 2013Laura’s House, a non-profit organization whose mission is to change the social beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence, while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse, today announced the launch of its 4th Annual Back-to-School Drive. This year, the organization will be collecting backpacks, school supplies and gift cards for families participating in its Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing and domestic violence counseling programs.

“Families in transition due to domestic violence often find the back-to-school season to be very stressful,” said Margaret Bayston, CEO and Executive Director, Laura’s House. “Being able to return to school with new school supplies, backpacks and other items can help children who are building lives that are free of violence, gain much needed self-esteem. We are immensely grateful for the local community’s support each year in helping us to provide the children and families we serve with a fresh start for the academic year.”
