More than 300 guests, dressed in their finest “Jazz Age” attire are expected to attend the annual event on Saturday, September 14 at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa

Ladera Ranch, Calif., Aug. 5, 2013 – On Saturday, September 14, 2013, more than 300 guests will “Step into the Roaring 20s” for the 2013 Annual Gala benefiting Laura’s House. The event will be held at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa, and all proceeds will be used to fund the programs and services that Laura’s House provides to individuals and families affected by domestic violence, including the Emergency Shelter, Transitional Living, Counseling & Resource Center, Legal Advocacy, and the Healthy Emotions and Attitudes in Relationships for Teens (H.E.A.R.T.), a community outreach program that educates teens on dating violence issues at local high schools and community colleges.

“Laura’s House is continuing to see great demand for the services we provide, and in 2012 we experienced a 21% increase in the number of calls received through our 24-hour Crisis Hotline,” said Margaret Bayston, CEO and Executive Director, Laura’s House. “Without the support we receive from the local community, we would not be able to meet the growing need for domestic violence counseling and shelter services. We are especially grateful for the generosity of those who attend and support special events, such as our Annual Gala. In 2012, we raised $150,000, and hope to exceed that amount this year.”

The presenting sponsor for “Step into the Roaring 20s” is Western National Group, one of California’s largest multifamily housing owners. “Laura’s House holds a very special place in my heart, as I’ve had the priviledge of serving as the chair of its board of directors, and as chair of its recently completed Cornerstone Capital Campaign,” said Laura Khouri, President, Western National Property Management. “Western National Group is committed to Laura’s House, and we consider our contributions toward the oranization to be an important part of our community outreach and giving programs. In addition to our financial support, many of our employees serve as volunteers for Laura’s House, and have become advocates, helping Laura’s House to fulfill its mission to serve individuals and families affected by domestic violence.”

During “Step into the Roaring 20s,” Laura’s House will be presenting Wells Fargo Corp. with its Crystal Heart Award in recognition for its commitment to supporting Laura’s House in fulfilling its mission to change the social beliefs, attitudes and the behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse. Wells Fargo has supported Laura’s House through its corporate giving programs, and also by providing volunteers as part of its community outreach and service initiatives.

“Step into the Roaring 20s” will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction featuring 200 items including exciting travel and entertainment experiences, culinary adventures, and a “Wall of Wine” offering a seemingly endless selection of top-rated wines and tasting experiences from around the world. After dinner, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a live auction featuring box seating for the Bon Jovi concert at Honda Center on October 9, 2013, a Tiffany Jazz™ pendant with diamonds in platinum, a beautiful Corum watch, and much more, followed by dancing and musical entertainment from the Sensation Showband.

Chair for “Music of the Night” is Wayne Pinnell, who also chairs the Laura’s House Board of Directors, and is Managing Partner for the accounting firm, Haskell & White. Event committee members are Laura’s House board members Sandy Jacobson, Linda Grace Kearns, Linda Lewis, Kurt Ross and Casey Wolin, and community volunteers Ingrid Bobbitt and Donna Cippola.

Individual tickets for “Step into the Roaring 20s” are $250 per person, ads are also available for the evening’s Tribute Journal. Table sponsorships begin at $3,500. For more information, visit www.laurashouse.org/events.
