EMOTIONAL

Emotional abuse can be very subtle or direct. If you inform your partner that their words and/or actions are offensive or hurt your feelings, but they continue their behavior, it is considered emotional abuse. This type of abuse may begin with jealousy and this jealousy is used to isolate the victim from family, friends, hobbies, and activities. It may seem like your partner is jealous because they love you but in reality, they are insecure.

  • Insulting
  • Blaming
  • Humiliation
  • Constant Accusations
  • Using Put Downs
  • “You're worthless”
  • “If you love me, prove it.”

  • Making threats like, "If you leave me I'll... spread rumors about you, tell your parents we had sex"

Changing social beliefs, attitudes and the behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse.
