La terapia individual te ofrece un lugar seguro y confidencial que te permite hablar abiertamente con un terapeuta formado para ser imparcial, escuchar atentamente y ayudarte a mejorar cuestiones que pueden resultarte confusas, dolorosas o incómodas. Además, los niños a partir de 5 años también pueden recibir terapia individual.

Los clientes anteriores deben esperar 2 años completos desde la última fecha de servicio para presentarse como voluntarios.
Ciertas funciones requieren la realización de la Formación en Defensa de la Violencia Doméstica de 40 horas, obligatoria por ley, que ofrece Laura’s House tres veces al año. Esta formación es necesaria para los voluntarios que desempeñan funciones de servicio directo al cliente.
El horario de formación es un horario fijo de 5 días, viernes y sábados, de 9 a 17 h. La formación de 40 horas de Defensor de la Violencia Doméstica proporciona conocimientos básicos a partir de los cuales se puede adquirir pericia y experiencia sobre las opciones disponibles para las personas maltratadas, comprensión de la dinámica de los malos tratos y una filosofía de empoderamiento. Los objetivos de la formación incluyen comprender la dinámica de la violencia doméstica, familiarizarse con los recursos y procedimientos, y desarrollar una actitud realista para ayudar a los afectados. Esto se consigue mediante conferencias, películas, actividades de grupo y preguntas y respuestas. La Casa de Laura ofrece la formación tres veces al año. Tras completar 40 horas de formación, los graduados recibirán un Certificado de Aprobación que les permitirá buscar oportunidades de voluntariado y empleo trabajando directamente con supervivientes de la violencia doméstica en el estado de California. Sí, se aceptan certificados de otras agencias y escuelas. Human Options y WTLC son dos agencias del condado de Orange, California, que ofrecen esta formación.

Los puestos de voluntario son limitados, y la realización de la formación no garantiza un puesto.
Los turnos suelen ser semanales o quincenales, incluyendo mañanas, tardes y noches limitadas. Para determinadas funciones se ofrecen turnos de fin de semana.

Sí, se fomenta el voluntariado en diversas funciones.
Para ser voluntario, tendrás que asistir a una sesión de orientación. A continuación, se te pedirá que rellenes una solicitud. Una vez completada la solicitud, tendrás una entrevista con el Director de Voluntarios. Después, te entrevistarás con el responsable del departamento. Si todo va bien, te someterás a una comprobación de antecedentes. Ten en cuenta que los puestos de voluntario no están garantizados, ya que las plazas son limitadas y queremos asegurarnos de que la función de voluntario es adecuada para ti. Una vez superada con éxito la comprobación de antecedentes, ¡podrás comenzar tu andadura como voluntario!
Actualmente, éstos son los únicos puestos de voluntariado disponibles. Sin embargo, si tienes una habilidad que crees que sería beneficiosa, a nuestro Gestor de Voluntarios le encantaría ponerse en contacto contigo.

Sí, los grupos pueden ser voluntarios en el Centro de Donaciones.
Aunque actualmente no ofrecemos oportunidades de voluntariado virtual, sigue habiendo formas de participar si no puedes ser voluntario en persona. Puedes organizar una campaña de recogida de listas de deseos, una campaña de recogida de ropa, una recaudación de fondos o ayudar económicamente a través de la recaudación de fondos entre iguales o de donativos. Además, también puedes marcar la diferencia comprando en nuestra Tienda de Reventa.
