Legal Advocacy at Laura's House
Legal advocates provide education, support and court accompaniment to victims of Domestic Violence who are seeking legal services at Laura's House. Legal services are limited to restraining orders for Domestic Violence only and are available at the Counseling and Resource Center, Domestic Violence Advocacy Center and the Emergency Shelter.
Legal Advocacy services include:
- Client Intake Interviews
- Case Assessment
- Guidance Through the entire Restraining Order Process
- Preparation and Filing of Restraining Order Paperwork
- Court Accompaniment
- Preparing Clients for Restraining Order Hearings
- Courthouse Anxiety Reduction Techniques (Meditation, Aromatherapy, etc.)
- Education on Victim Rights
- Referrals to Legal Resources
- Services Available in Spanish
- Community Outreach and Education
- Safety Planning
